This no-stakes worksheet reads a Bicycle Arlington endpoint. Use this hypothetical transcript: Last draw: final stock card taken; not out. Final meld: permitted melds placed. Stop: play ends. Cross out the erroneous addition: Offer a card.
Mark evidence before interpreting a picture
Make three boxes labelled event, observation and unknown. These are reading aids, not additional game rules. Put only an explicitly written action in the event box. A visible arrangement belongs under observation. Anything hidden or omitted stays unknown.
Consider a hypothetical illustration: a player holds one card above a table, while a rectangular area nearby is blank. The caption says only “later in the hand”. Write “card held above table” as an observation. Neither the card's origin nor the meaning of the blank area is established. Do not fill those gaps from the picture's dramatic framing.
Compare two captions on the same drawing
Copy that illustration onto sheets A and B. Sheet A retains its vague caption. Sheet B adds an event note identifying the endpoint described above. The artwork is identical, but the available evidence is not.
Underline the added words on B. Then cover the caption and ask a partner to distinguish the sheets. They cannot reliably do so from the drawing alone. Uncover it and explain which information changed your interpretation. This exercise separates what the picture shows from what accompanying text establishes.
Keep corrections traceable
If a worksheet already contains an unsupported arrow, cross it out without erasing the original. Add a short margin note: “not established by this caption”. That correction identifies the evidence problem without inventing a replacement event.
Keep both sheets, label them hypothetical, and attach the source link. Another reader can reproduce the comparison rather than relying on your memory. This is a document-reading exercise, not advice about choosing cards or playing for money.
